business mission values

“I am one with infinite missions”

I love magazines and am often inspired by things I find in ads or read in articles. This headline and mission statement came from an ad in Forbes magazine for a Japanese company called Itochu. My husband Brad and I recently created a new mission and vision statement for our business. I am excited about what we created because it’s focused and measurable.

Then I read this headline, “I am one with Infinite Missions” and it struck me deeply. As I read through the lines of the mission statement I felt called but I also felt aligned, knowing that my mission is aligned with who I am and who I want to be in the world.

Do you have infinite missions?

I also realized that those of us who are creative entrepreneurs often struggle BECAUSE we have infinite missions.

How can we possibly focus on just one thing, one group of people, one product or service?

I know that I used to feel trapped and limited by having to choose and to focus in my business. I wanted to do it all, serve everyone, change the world.

And yet, as the years have passed and experience has taught me many business lessons, I have a new perspective and keen insights into my own gifts, talents and purpose. I can change the world, one woman at a time. I can think globally while still acting locally. My success has come with focus, with clarity and with intention.

The lines in this mission statement read like a manifesto, a poem, a creative outpouring of soul. Surprising perhaps from a global corporation? Not really when you consider the potential we all have to work globally.

I dedicate myself to our common future

I was struck deeply by the lines “I dedicate myself to our common future, mindful of my responsibility to promote the prosperity of all earthly beings.” I am passionate about prosperity and about profit in business. Why? Because the more money we make, the more we have to give. The more we give, the more change we create.

These are troubled, crazy times around the world. It’s more important now than ever to make sure you business mission is aligned with the impact you want to have int he world.

Here’s Brad and I’s mission and manifesto that will drive our business for the next 3 years. It’s a big one – it feels challenging and exciting. It also feels true. We feel aligned in our business, our lifestyle and our mission to change the world – one woman at a time.
