Create a Connection Credo:
Creativity & Your Business Success

As a creative woman entrepreneur, one of our biggest challenges can be staying focused and connected – to tasks, to people and especially to ourselves. If you are wondering what creativity has to do with your business success, I would say “Everything!” Staying connected to our creative spirit has everything to do with our business success as does learning to use our innate creative gifts to connect with our marketing genius.

Right-brained entrepreneurs don’t have to build their business in a traditional linear, structured way. In fact, we benefit from looking at our business from a more wholistic and circular perspective so that we can see the interconnectedness of who we are with how we want to build our business.

I am sharing  fun ARTsignment™ today where you will combine writing and art to develop a piece that illustrates your interactive relationship with the world. This is a fun ARTsignment™ to do if you are feeling overwhelmed, isolated or disconnected from yourself, others or even the earth. It is also fun if you just if you need a refreshing creative play date and new perspective in the moment. This project can help you to intuitively identify your passions and how you want to interact with the world around you.

You will need a pen or pencil and blank sheet of paper to begin. I invite you to use this activity as a Mindulness Practice. Center yourself by closing your eyes, taking a few deep breaths and relaxing into your chair. Let the cares of the day slip away for a few moments. Be fully present as you complete the following statements but also be okay with feeling silly, creative, playful, curious. Whatever shows up for you, just acknowledge it and keep going.

First, complete the following sentence at least 12 times with the first thing that comes to mind:

I ____________ the world.

For example: I challenge the world. I flirt with the world. I take care of the world. I cuddle with the world. I question the world.

The next step is to expand each sentence to follow this format:

I ___________ the world, the world __________ me.

The resulting list looks something like this: I challenge the world, the world challenges me. I flirt with the world, the world flirts with me. I take care of the world, the world takes care of me. I cuddle with the world, the world cuddles with me. I question the world, the world questions me, etc.

The next step is to look through the list of statements, and pick ONE that really excites you. Ideally it should be a statement that really gets to the heart of who you really, truly are.

Then take the time to create a self portrait (using any media or techniques) to express your “connection credo”. The above example is my painting to illustrate my Connection Credo: “I love the world, the world loves me.” If you know me, you know that I am a positive person, that I love my life and that I also love nature. I approach each day with a “my glass is full” lens. If I can maintain that perspective of love in everything that I do, then I feel content, fulfilled and confident that I am on the right path.

How does that impact my business? The energy of love is the energy that I want to bring to my work, to my marketing and to my life. What energy do you want to bring?

What does your Connection Credo say about you?

What a wonderfully inspiring exercise, Minette. I’ve had so much fun with the first part, now I just have to create my connection credo and reflect on the business connection. Love your art!

The Connection Credo is a great idea Minette! I am a Right Brain girl and love it. I find I do not do business in a traditionally linear way, but that has worked for me. So far, so good! I see the structure of business in a massive shift, especially as more heart-centered women come forward. Cheers to all our business success and to you Minette for the work you do! 🙂

That’s lovely! I thought you would have us painting hearts like your beautiful image above. I think that once I have my Credo, I will paint it as well.

Love this! Sometimes it’s in the more simple things that can bring the BIGGEST AHA’s for us!

    My creative credo is:
I share inspirational messages with the world, the world bring inspiration to me.
