Let’s Dance! Day 4 of 31 Days to Build Your Creative Confidence
Welcome to day 4 of the 31 Days to Creative Confidence blog series. And Happy 4th of July. I hope you are all planning fun celebrations with friends and family. I woke early this morning in Estes Park, Colorado to a stunning sunrise pouring over the mountains. Looking forward to a hike this morning and big party with friends this afternoon.
Day 4 Lesson – Let’s Dance!
Because it is a day to celebrate our freedom, your quick lesson today is to DANCE! I love the quote on creativity by Tina Turner. I love watching her perform, talk about being in her body and being connected to the music, wow!
Someone commented on Day 3 of the creative confidence series that this kind of creativity is not joyful for them, referring to my suggestion that you create a space and fill it with art supplies. But she has a beautiful music room with a piano that brings her joy. This series is not only about painting, drawing or writing. We are all artists and each of us expresses our creativity in our own way. I love the fine arts and creative writing. Others thrive on making music, singing, dancing, cooking… the opportunities for creative expression are limitless.
One of the best ways to get in touch with your creative spirit is to DANCE! Put on some favorite music, dance alone or invite someone to join you and just dance as if no one’s watching. Dance slow or dance fast, it doesn’t matter. It’s a great way to get in touch with your body again and to feel yourself connected to the music, to earth and to Spirit through your movements.
Get Creative!
Then, after dancing I want you to either spend 5 minutes journaling about the how it felt to be dancing or spend 5 minutes and color or paint your experience. Just allow the dance to extend onto the page in whatever way way feels most fun for you. Celebrate the freedom of your body!
I love the song “Think” by Aretha Franklin and all day yesterday the lyrics “Freedom, freedom” kept ringing in my head so it seemed appropriate to share it with you here today as we learn to celebrate our creative freedom and independence of expression on this 4th of July Holiday.

I am also doing this challenge and I really love this. I need to learn to dance. I am trying to build my blog by building readership and I think to do I have to stop worrying about seo and all of that and start showing my creative side. TY for this
What a great idea….I haven’t danced I years…my husband isn’t big on dancing, and we never go out anywhere, but you are right, just put on the music and dance!!!
Hi Minette
It’s amazing how inhibited we allow ourselves to become. Worried about others watching us and what they may be thinking …. and there is nothing more wonderful than seeing dances literally being moved by the music and feeling the rhythm!
Minette,
I discovered swing dancing a couple of months ago and I absolutely lOVE it. My kids go with their friends to an old-fashioned dance club, where a group of older musicians play big band music, and everybody dances. Most of the couples there are over 80. There is something about the combination of music and dancing that just fills me with joy!
