9 things I’ve learned about self-care from my daily walks: Day 10 of 100 days of positive self-talk

  1. Getting out the door is the hardest step
  2. Slow down or you miss the important things (like tiny wonderful bugs in the center of a flower, birds in a tree, dewdrops on a spiderweb)
  3. Something is always blooming in Goleta California, why not me?
  4. Moving my body always makes me feel better
  5.  It feels really good to push harder and move faster, go uphill and down, stretch and strengthen
  6. Getting outside in nature always nourishes my spirit as well as my body
  7. Walking even just in my neighborhood inspires my creativity
  8. I get the best ideas for my business while I’m walking
  9. I really love taking photos of flowers, it makes me happy, which makes me feel better about everything!

Here are a few of my flower photos from our local area taken on daily walks.

I love all the flowers but I really love succulents, they look like flowers and they create tiny mandalas that make my heart sing.

I have 3 different colors of hibiscus blooming in my yard, lucky me. I see so much color daily that inspires and delights me. Approaching my day with gratitude for the beauty around me is so nourishing. My daily walks remind me to open my eyes and see what’s in front of my face.

Daily walks are my source of exercise, comfort, connection with my hubby and so much more. I realized this year that I need to up the intensity of my exercise in order to get stronger. And I’m not willing to sacrifice these daily walks in nature.

My simple solutions for even more self-care?

I came up with two:

  • do sprints of jogging and pausing to take flower pics or
  • add 10 minutes of dancing, stretching & strengthening exercises to my walk when I get home.

What is your favorite form of self-care? I have many and am committed to doing more of them more frequently.
