5 Keys to Following Your Heart’s Desire

I taught my last biz planning retreat last week. It was a bittersweet and affirming moment. One of the reoccurring themes of the women on the call was the desire to “follow your bliss.” I’ve been thinking more along similar lines of following your heart’s desire.
Using Mind maps in your Visual Journal
In fact, I created the mind map above for an article in a magazine that is about to come out in December. There are no mistakes. The fact that my business coaching clients are looking for courage to follow their heart’s desire was a gentle, loving reminder that I am on the right path.
Today’s abc of visual journaling is the letter K which stands for keys. How can visual journaling help you to discover the key to your heart’s desire? Mind mapping, collage, painting, intuitive journaling and guided visualization are all entry points to having a meaningful conversation with yourself about what you really want and who you are. I’ve been having a lot of those conversations with myself lately.
From business coach to Renaissance woman
I have been a business coach for artist’s and creatives for close to a decade. I have loved every minute of it and made a great living. But over the past few years, my passion started to shift and evolve and I felt called to step even more into my own creativity. I have always been a writer and crafter and for the past five years I have been following my heart as a visual artist and visual journaler.
I realized this morning as I watch enrollments rolling in for my upcoming Radiant Retreat that I am doing exactly what I encourage my clients to do.I am following my heart’s desire to step fully into my creative work. It’s scary and it’s the right time.
Finding Courage to Lead
I can’t lead, guide or support others to be more courageous on their journeys if I am not willing to do the same. The decision to let go of clients and programs wasn’t an easy one and it’s taken me months of indecision to get to this moment where I am clear what I am leaving behind and what I am stepping into in the coming year.
There are many reasons why this decision was hard but the biggest two are related to people and money. I’m letting go of a community of amazing women I adore and I’m letting go of what has been a steady stream of income for 5 years.
Learning to Trust
I have to trust that I can do this, that I can attract the women and the income that are most aligned with my purpose and work in this world. Underneath trust lie doubt, fear, and uncertainty. It feels like diving off the high dive. I’m holding my nose and jumping in feet first. No going back.
This is my personality! I am an all in kind of girl. I give my love, passion and energy wholeheartedly when I have made a decision.
As I step onto the creative path, I see myself as a guide who takes women on deep personal journeys to claim their innate creativity and create their own Renaissance.

Thank you Janet, I recently read the original book on Mind Maps by Tony Buzan and it was so insightful and changed how I was looking at the process.
You have amazing courage. I am still working on building trust and courage. And it’s definitely a key step.
Thanks Jeanine, if I can do it so can you!
