How do you stay focused on your goals?

staying focused on goalsDo you Struggle to Stay Focused on Your Goals?

I find that creative entrepreneurs have big ideas and set lofty goals but staying focused on reaching their goals can be a challenge. Creatives are constantly being distracted by bright new shiny ideas that pull them off the path to success.

I see this happen over and over with my creative clients and it’s something I personally struggle with as well. I love big ideas, I love setting goals, so how do I actually get from point A to point Z?

Use affirmations to focus on your goals

One of the tools that has worked best for me over the years is using affirmations and journaling to stay focused on my goals. Why? Because committing to saying or writing powerful statements keeps my attention and my intention on the goal.

It’s easy to create a goal, write it in a journal and forget about it. We need to proactively work with the physical, emotional and spiritual manifestation of our goals on a consistent basis.

I often assign this process to my clients as well. When combined with specific action steps, writing, saying or doodling our affirmations is a powerful way to bring our goals into reality.

I also encourage you to add visuals through drawing, color or images from magazines. This extra boost will help your mind and your spirit to visualize what it will feel like when you accomplish your goal.

I recently created a 30 day affirmation series to support you in reaching your goals as a bonus for a webinar I hosted. I would love to invite you to participate in this supportive series as well. You can register here. You will also get access to my recent webinar titled Finish Strong with great tips and strategies for bringing in income during November and December.

Here is a sample from the affirmation series. I would love to have you join me in this process. There is still time to finish the year strong and reach the goals we created in January.

You can choose any of these affirmations or read through all of them. Pick one or two that stand out for you and read them several times throughout the day. Take time to answer the self-reflection questions and do some doodling or collage to support your vision. This entire process should only take about 15 minutes.

Can you carve out 15 minutes a day to support yourself in achieving your goals?

Affirmations to help you stay focused on your goals.

I am focused on my goals and dreams.

I allow myself to dream big dreams and set goals accordingly. Then I take action to make them happen.

When I set a goal, the first thing I do is divide the goal into a series of steps I can take to get me there. Each step is an easily attainable task. I schedule the easiest tasks at the beginning so I can jump right in and gain forward momentum toward my goal.

Easy tasks also keep me focused on my goal. Each task I complete successfully gives me confidence to keep moving. I know I am one step closer to my goal and it makes me eager to take the next step.

I acknowledge that, no matter what path we choose in life, there will be challenges. I also know that success comes to those who persevere. So I do my best to anticipate challenges and discover their solutions.

My action plan is my map to my treasure! Even if I need to change my path to go around a bump in the road, I do not get lost. By keeping my focus on my dream, I find my way back, certain that success awaits me.

I use tools, such as affirmations, meditation, and visualization to keep me focused on my goals. I see the trappings of success within me and I feel gratitude for this wonderful life.

Today, my plan is to remain focused on my goals and dreams, no matter what challenges may arise.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I allow myself to dream big dreams?
2. Have I written my action plan with steps I can take to reach my goals?
3. What tools do I use to keep me focused on my goals?

I have found that using affirmations keeps me focused on my goals. As a creative, I love making visual maps of those goals. It is a joy to see them manifest in one form or something even better than I imagined! Thanks for your post.

Visual maps are so much fun to create!! We actually stick to plans better when we add the creative element.

I do really well to dream big and set goals. Outlining steps and milestones are also things that I have learned how to do better. Where I struggle most is following up and reviewing my goals to track my progress. Normally I wait until a big milestone and “check” off the boxes vs. making small changes along the way. Thanks for sharing this post, this was very helpful and timely for this season in my life.

Hi Angela, thanks for stopping by. So glad you found this to be useful. I agree that the small changes along the way are the biggest challenge!
