Raindrops on roses and other favorite things

I went for a walk this morning after a day of luscious welcome rain yesterday.

The sun was lighting up the dew drops everywhere, capturing my eye like tiny diamonds.

Raindrops on roses

The air was cool and crisp, free of dust and pollen.

And I enjoyed check in calls with my Dad and sis-in-law while I was walking for some much needed human connection and assurance that they are well. Although I burst into tears when my sis-in-law asked me how I’m doing.

We are all doing as well as can be expected…  and it feels like I’m on an emotional rollercoaster. Mostly hanging out at the top with a few crazy quick dips to the bottom before another ascent.

My hubby Brad and I went for a walk after work and saw three full plumage Orioles.

Between the two walks I couldn’t help but think about one of my all time favorite songs and fave movie The Sound of Music. I found myself walking and humming raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens… brown paper packages and orioles in spring.

These walls are keeping my spirit lifted and my body moving. They also keep me creatively inspired.

How are you doing today?

And here’s a fun creative challenge: what line from a song mirrors how you are feeling today?

Minette you touched me and made me smile. Hang in there, the raindrops bring an all new season.

Beautiful walks you have. I love music; sometimes it’s calming, jazzy, and tonight it’s anything Meghan Trainor.

Great post- My song for how I’m feeling right now. So Far Away by Carole King. Missing my parents who I can’t see right now and help them and good friends around the block that I can’t get a drink with during this crazy time.

I love the Sound of Music, walks after the rain, hearing birdsong, celebrating life and being mindful with my blog posts. I mostly listen to instrumental music when I write – so coming up with a song isn’t at the forefront of my mind.
