Are you ready for more prosperity in 2015?

Many of us say we are ready for prosperity, but are you really? Do you have a plan in place to make it happen? Are you prepared to take consistent, creative action to grow your business? I am on a mission to help creative women entrepreneurs create more abundance and more prosperity in 2015 by helping them avoid one massive mistake they all make!

But first, I want to share some scary statistics about women-owned businesses with you.

On average women-owned businesses don’t have a high rate of success. Current statistics show that there are close to 10 million women-owned businesses. Did you know that of those 10 million businesses, only 6% will ever reach the 6-figure mark? In fact, over 50% of women never exceed $25,000 dollars a year in revenue. Even sadder, only 2% of women-owned businesses ever reach the 7-figure mark. It doesn’t have to be that way.

I would like to turn these statistics upside down and see more and more women entrepreneurs break through to their first $50,000, $100,000 and yes, even $1,000,000,000 dollars in revenue in their business. I believe that the number one reason that creative women entrepreneurs in particular are not succeeding in their business is that they don’t know how (and perhaps are afraid) to market themselves.

What is your marketing mindset?

Does one or more of these statements resonate with you?

  • Marketing is so overwhelming; I don’t know where to start.
  • I am afraid to sell myself; people will think I am pushy.
  • If I start marketing all the time, no one will want to be my friend on Facebook.
  • Creating a marketing plan feels like pulling teeth, it’s not fun or creative, so I just wing it.
  • Can’t I just use social media to grow my business?
  • I’m not good at technology.
  • Networking terrifies me, I am such an introvert.
  • Networking is fun, I love being around people, but I never get any business out of it so I stopped going.
  • I am not a marketer, I just love to _________________ (fill in the blank.)
  • I am terrible at marketing, it feels so unnatural, so I don’t do it.
  • I don’t have time for marketing, my day is already so busy.

Growing your business takes planning, consistency and persistence. I find that creative women entrepreneurs struggle with planning and with consistency when it comes to their marketing! Why? Because traditional marketing plans don’t work for creative entrepreneurs.

Creativity is one of your biggest gifts, I know, but it can also be one of your biggest challenges.

The #1 mistake that creative women entrepreneurs make is not having a plan in place to market their business!

Linda Naiman, founder of Creativityatwork.com, writes: “Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity is characterized by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing. If you have ideas, but don’t act on them, you are imaginative but not creative.”

Creativity is crucial to success, but so is action.

That last line, about having ideas but not acting on them, is true of many of the creative woman entrepreneurs I work with. Creative women entrepreneurs love the creative aspects of the work they do, they love brainstorming and the free flow of ideas but they don’t always know how to take an idea and create an action plan that will help them go from idea to profit. Marketing is the key ingredient to making a profit from your ideas.
