Love the prestrung Zendala tiles!

I am so glad today is Friday, the weekend ahead always means more time for art for me! I love my work as a business coach but I love my art, too, and ZentangleĀ® is one of my favorite methods of creativity. I recently became a Certified ZentangleĀ® teacher, woot! So my business clients will likely find themselves tangling their way to business success, or at least to less stress and more relaxation.

I know that creativity and getting in touch with our creative spirit is crucial for tapping into our inner brilliance, intuition and purpose. That’s why you will often see me blogging about business AND art. I believe the more we can integrate our different hobbies, passions and interests with our work, the happier and more successful we will be at marketing and growing our business.

ZentangleĀ® weekly challenge #173

I haven’t participated in the weekly Zentangle challenge hosted by I am the Diva recently but decided to dive in this week. I love the challenge being offered by guest host and amazing artist Sharla Hicks. These challenges remind me to take my practice deeper and to focus on improving and being more creative with tangle patterns that I already love.

At the Zentangle certification, I purchased a set of prestrung Zendala tiles. I am obsessed with mandalas and have been creating and coloring them for years. They are a great technique for stress release and for creating quiet time with your kids. I have a fun blog post on how to use mandalas to relieve stress with some sample coloring pages. Go have raid your kids’ craft cabinet, grab some crayons and play! You will see another example of how I incorporate the ZentangleĀ® method into my work. Even my logo in the banner at the top of this page is created with oodles of fun tangle patterns.

Here are some tiles that I worked on recently, some I love, others not as much. But I realized that I definitely have some favorite patterns and some I like the look of but struggle to recreate. I also love the idea of working with just one tangle at a time and seeing what I can do with it. Thanks Sharla Hicks for the inspiration this week.

In the tangle above, I focused on Betweed and Paradox, adding the touch of yellow with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen at the end.

This black Zendala tile was one I worked on at the Zentangle Certification Seminar. I am now a CZT 14 – impressive how many people are as passionate about this process as I am. Loved both these tangles, Rixty and Indy-Rella, which may be my favorite new tangle.

I always like the look of auraknot but find it a challenge, had fun playing with it here and attempting to shade with my Derwent Inktense pencils, which I love playing with!

In the challenge, Sharla asked us to focus on our go-to pattern, so I picked Drupe, which I love and is fun to shade. I added Fracas, which is a great variation of Drupe and I also included a touch of another go-to favorite tangle, Flux. This one was my favorite!

Hope your weekend is full of wonderful, art-full activities, too!
